I’ve always wondered why they’re called “city schools” when the city has no say in the schools and vice versa. I bet Huber heights school district would like an influx of new property taxes.

In state law, there are three basic types of school districts - local schools, exempted village schools and city schools. There some minor differences between them, but generally it's just an old classification system. The city government literally have nothing to do with the city school district; it's more of a geographic designator. The thing that is important to remember is that when cities annex new lands, the school boundaries do not change.
