Early Voting a Hit this Past Weekend
Over 1,500 show up to the historic Miami County Courthouse to cast a ballot
This past weekend, 1,540 voters showed up to cast a ballot at the Miami County Board of Elections. When comparing the first weekend of in-person early voting here in 2024 to 2020, this past weekend’s number is 25% higher than 1,234 early votes cast in the last election cycle.
Overall, 14,555 early votes have been cast, which equates to roughly 18% of all registered voters in the county. When looking at the aggregate total of the in-person early vote, is there anything we know about these voters? Well, Republicans are still out polling Democrats by relatively large numbers; 7,022 Republicans have cast a ballot while 1,514 Democrats have show up to the early poll. However, 39% of all registered Democrats have cast a ballot, while 33% of all registered Republicans have cast a ballot. The number is not a huge surprise as traditionally Republicans have cast their votes on Election Day itself.
In terms of geography, most votes have come from Troy. Over 4,000 Trojans have cast a ballot, which is nearly 22% of all registered voters in the community. 1,594 voters from Tipp City have cast early ballots, which is 20% of all voters in the community. Piqua has registered 1,478 early votes, representing 11% of all voters and 625 votes have been cast from the Miami County portion of Huber Heights, representing 15% of all voters.
Early voting continues this week, including this weekend. Many voters may find the extended evening hours to be particularly helpful.

You Can Help Support This Work!
Our readers and subscribers have been asking for a new way to support the work being done here at Civic Capacity! Some of our readers do not like the idea of having to sign up for another subscription service. Some of our subscribers occasionally want to give more support through a one-time transaction.
Civic Capacity is partnering with “Buy Me A Coffee” to give our readers, subscribers and friends an opportunity to give one-time support to Civic Capacity. Personally, I don’t like coffee, but I will never turn down a nice iced tea. If you feel compelled to support this effort, just click the button below.
