Tomorrow, the Troy Chamber of Commerce is again hosting a “Meet The Canddiate” night in the Bravo Room at Hobart Arena, 225 Adams Street in Troy. The event begins at 7:00 p.m. with the doors opening at 6:30; the forum will last ninety minutes and feature opening and closing statements from candidates as well as questions asked of the candidates by local media.
For this event, there are two contested elections that will be highlighted during this event. City wide, there are four candidates running for three at-large council seats. Todd Severt, Lynne Snee and Susan Westfall are three incumbents who prevailed in this May’s Republican Primary. These three candidates will be joined on the ballot by Bryan Begg, an independent/non-partisan candidate. The top three vote getters will be elected to city council.
There is also a contested election in Troy’s First Ward, which is roughly, the city’s northeast corner. In this election, Republican incumbent Jeffrey Whidden will be against Democratic challenger Jeffrey Harris.
The event is traditionally well attended and the Bravo Room is a new location, as it has traditionally been held in the Junior High School. Those wishing to attend are encouraged to get there early, as seats can fill up quickly.
Take our September Communty Survey!
September means it’s time for our every-other-month community survey. This three minute survey helps gauge our community’s thoughts on the progress being made in the community and asks you, our residents, on what our opportunities and challenges are.
And this is open to everyone! If the survey gets substantial interaction from other communities, this publication will publish those results!
Thanks for your time and your participation! It is greatly appreciated!

You Can Help Support This Work!
Our readers and subscribers have been asking for a new way to support the work being done here at Civic Capacity! Some of our readers do not like the idea of having to sign up for another subscription service. Some of our subscribers occasionally want to give more support through a one-time transaction.
Civic Capacity is partnering with “Buy Me A Coffee” to give our readers, subscribers and friends an opportunity to give one-time support to Civic Capacity. Personally, I don’t like coffee, but I will never turn down a nice iced tea. If you feel compelled to support this effort, just click the button below. In other words, this is an online tip jar.
Also, thanks for reading today’s Civic Capacity Newsletter! Please feel free to share this information with your friends and neighbors.
