Vol. III, No. 206 - A small letter to our readers here at Civic Capacity
Dear Reader,
This Christmas Eve, I want to take a moment, and thank you for supporting this worthy project. Over the last nineteen months, this idea of helping our friends and neighbors learn more about local government has taken root. The work done here at Civic Capacity has been read over 400,000 when we first started last May. And each day, I am committed to share something new about our communities from my own unique observations. It is a lot of work, but it’s truly a work of passion.
And what has made this project so worthwhile, is you, our friends and neighbors. As a writer here on the Substack platform, we are often shown numbers on our work. And as you might imagine, there are a lot of writers here that are chasing those numbers. More views, more clicks, more interaction.
That has never been my style. Trust me, over the past nineteen months I have stumbled upon stories and anecdotes that could easily garner a ton of attention for this effort, but it if there is no underlying purpose to either set a higher standard for our communities or to provide a unique analysis on what is happening in our hometowns, it’s not worth doing. There is something to be said for saying true to one’s mission and vision. Civic Capacity is all about inspiring, informing and involving our residents.
In other words, this project is here to serve you, our loyal tribe of over 1,700 readers. Your curiosity, insights, and passion for civic issues have been the driving force behind our community’s growth and vibrancy. Together, we’ve explored critical topics, shared diverse perspectives, and fostered a space for meaningful dialogue. Your contributions have not only enriched our platform but have also helped shape a more informed and connected community.
As we celebrate this festive season, we want to express our deepest thanks for being an integral part of CivicCapacity.com. Your readership and participation have been the greatest gifts I could ask for.
