On The Agenda: Looking Ahead to Monday's Troy City Council Meeting
A quick primer on the next meeting of Troy City Council
The upcoming Troy City Council meeting on November 20, 2023, could be an eventful session with several critical issues on the agenda, including a mix of public hearings, resolutions, and ordinance readings. The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will be held in Council Chambers at the City Building, 100 South Market Street.
A significant focus will be on the public hearing for Ordinance O-48-2023, which proposes the rezoning of 58.093 acres at 3054 W. SR to a Planned Development-Residential area. This ordinance, at its second reading, aims to approve the general plan of the Somerset Reserve Subdivision as part of this rezoning. This public hearing is an opportunity for community members to voice their opinions and concerns regarding this development.
The development of this property is not a new issue for the community and was part of a rezoning earlier this year. This newsletter recently covered the proposed rezoning in this post:
Last week council’s finance committee held a three hour committee meeting going over the 2024 budget. This coming Monday, the budget ordinance (O-53-2023) will have it’s first reading along with three resolutions that provide funding for outside agencies. These resolutions include R-59-2023, which concerns funding of $140,000 for the Troy Development Council for 2024, R-60-2023 for allocating $60,000 to Troy Main Street, Inc., and R-61-2023 for providing $32,000 to the Troy Recreation Association. Another important resolution, R-62-2023, is set to address the extension of an agreement with MVCC regarding Electric Aggregation for City Facilities until December 31, 2026, and is marked as an emergency.
Several ordinances are also slated for their first reading. These include O-49-2023, which involves vacating an alley between W. Water St. and Washington St., O-50-2023 regarding a salary ordinance amendment for seasonal and part-time positions, O-51-2023 for the rezoning of part of the Swank Annexation from County A-2, General Agriculture, to City R-4, Single-Family Residential District, and O-52-2023, which proposes the rezoning of 1304 W. Main St. to an Office-Residential District. The rezoning ordinances will have public hearings at the next City Council meeting, scheduled for Monday, December 4th.
Citizens will have the opportunity to comment on committee reports or agenda items, with a two-minute limit per speaker, ensuring community engagement and feedback.
