Happy New Year Everyone!
And while 2025 has finally arrived, we can take a look at some of the events that might shape our civic life over the next year. Local elections will be on tap this year, which will surely mean a larger discussion on issues that matter to our hometowns. The Troy City Schools will be preparing buiding new schools in the community. West Main Street is scheduled to be completed by June. The Fire Training Facility Committee in Piqua will continue to do their work. Carriage Trails 2.0 will be commencing in the Bethel Township portion of Huber Heights. Everywhere we look, there will be a decision or a story or an event that will further shape our communities moving foward.
And we move foward, it’s important that your voices and your opinions are a part of that discussion. there is no better way to kick off the new year, than to ask our readers to take three to four minutes to fill out our bi-montly survey to have a gauge on how you feel our communities are doing.
These surveys have been truly dynamic. Your responses have helped demonstrate how public sentiment has changed over time, yet also show how the aspects of our community that we value the most have stayed the same. Every time I see the results of these surveys, I feel like I learn something new and novel about our community.
So today, I'm reaching out to you, our amazing and dependable readers, and asking you to take a few minutes to fill out this survey. Let us know what you think about the place you call home.
In a future edition of the Civic Capacity newsletter in February, this publication will take the time to provide thoughtful and careful analysis of the answers this publication received and, more importantly, review the trends that the data is showing.
These surveys are not just an opportunity for your thoughts and feelings to be heard—although it definitely is that. It's also a chance to gain a better understanding of how your community is perceived by your friends and neighbors, and for you to have a say in that process.
Also, it doesn’t matter what your hometown is; last month we have received a number of responses from Troy and Piqua and were able to provide an analysis of the survey results from both communities.
You can access the survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PF6SPPN
Thanks for your time and your participation! It is greatly appreciated!

A Unique Way to Support This Work
Our readers and subscribers have been asking for a new way to support the work being done here at Civic Capacity! Some of our readers do not like the idea of having to sign up for another subscription service. Some of our subscribers occasionally want to give more support through a one-time transaction.
Civic Capacity is partnering with “Buy Me A Coffee” to give our readers, subscribers and friends an opportunity to give one-time support to Civic Capacity. Personally, I don’t like coffee, but I will never turn down a nice iced tea. If you feel compelled to support this effort, just click the button below.
Thank you to our loyal reader, Tom, from Troy that bought me a nice iced tea today! Much appreciated!
Thanks for reading today’s Civic Capacity Newsletter! Please feel free to share this information with your friends and neighbors.
Also, please consider subscribing to our work. If you are a free subscriber, please consider becoming a paid subscriber. For less than $1 a week, you can get timely and conversational updates about the decisions that are impacting you and your community!
