We are averaging 60-75 families a month and our Thanksgiving basket distribution has exploded. 1 in 6 active duty families are food insecure. The client choice model we operate is limited to us receiving donations and purchasing at retail because we only serve one population so the food banks are restricted from us. The challenge is real. Our pantry experienced 5 new families this week of the 16 families we served and that equated to 104 individuals a fraction of what New Path sees weekly yet exposes a need that is eye opening when we consider our military and veteran families who have a set guaranteed income. There are barriers with govt shutdown as active duty don’t get housing pay and civil servants don’t recurved any pay and many will not get back pay if paid hourly - our pantry landscape has had to shift and yet we are witnessing God work in incredible ways.
