City Council Committee to Discuss New Annexation
Owners of 107 acres west of Wilson Road are looking to be part of the City.
On May 28th, City Council’s Community and Economic Development Committee will be asked to make a recommendation to the full council to adopt a series of resolutions that will annex just over 107 acres of land to the City of Troy. The land is located west of Wilson Road, just south and west of the intersection of Wilson Road with State Route 718. The above photo shows the land to be annexed outlined in yellow, with Concord School at the very upper right-hand corner of the photo.
The annexation is a “Type II Expedited Annexation”, which basically means all property owners of the acreage are agreeing to be annexed to the city. In this process, the city must adopt three separate resolutions with a very tight time-frame dictated by the Ohio Revised Code.
The first resolution states that the city will provide services to the annexed parcel, including such things such as water and sewer infrastructure, as well as police and fire service. The second resolution will require buffering to take place if the use of the land is incompatible with neighboring land uses. The final resolution would consent to the annexation, whereas the annexation is actually approved by the Board of County Commissioners, not the City.

Could you explain why you think that the addition of a traffic signal at that intersection would be problematic?
These plans would put an additional load on both 718 and McKaig. Adding the traffic generated by the new school between those roads without accommodating bicycles would significantly reduce access to the city east of I-75.
