Roundabout are a very economical and safe way to manage traffic congestion. I much prefer this solution to sitting and wasting gas at a red light particularly when there is no cross traffic. Also noting that this intersection is at an an odd angle, not 90 degrees, which the proposed solution addresses better than a traffic light.

You might be on to something, but I am afriad there is going to be a ton of stopped traffic at this roundabout. Most of the truck traffic travels on Stanfield north to Experiment Farm; I wonder how much traffic will back on West Main Street as we see trucks navigate the roundabout.

Thanks for sharing this information. I came across information a couple weeks ago that talked about these roundabouts a couple weeks ago and how it was done during WW2 by Hitler. I tried to find it again to share . If I find it again I will share it as it was a PDF full of information. It maybe in the Library of Congress.

I am a fan of roundabouts. The arguments for them are proven in terms of reduction of frequency and severity of accidents. And despite the limitless whining and jaw flapping over the roundabout downtown, that one works very well, even with heavy pedestrian complication. That being said, I just can't see the justification for that kind of change for the intersection at Stanfield and West Main. There are so many global factors that point to overall decrease in car volume in 25 years that I can't buy the 2047 afternoon projection. And even if that is accurate, a potential two minute congestion wait during peak afternoon traffic 25 years from now is hardly an inconvenience that justifies a $4 million fix.

I found the 2047 projections a bit off as well; I am not sure if it's going to be higher or lower. But, we are looking at a fix to made in 2024 for a problem that will be here in 2047. I am a huge fan of thinking of the future, but I am certain there are other intersections in town that are more problematic.
