Troy needs this conversation. The very low voter turn out in the primary is perhaps a sign that folks have tuned out. Although I live in the township and am not a city resident, what happens in Troy affects me too.
I plan on doing a write up on the turnout sometime soon. But, you are right, there are a lot of people that are simply tuned out about what is happening in the community for many reasons. I think as leaders we need to take time to listen to those that are turned out and understand their concerns.
I agree that there is a need for more listening to citizens/voters by elected officials. I hear the frustration from those in my family who work downtown. Citizens also need to be more clearly communicating their concerns and be more involved in city government.
